Religious places in India 

There are many religious places in India. Pilgrims visit these places regularly. 

1. Char Dham Yatra

Char Dham yatara is travel to four corners of the country i.e. Badrinath, Kedranath, Rameshwaram, Dwarika. These are four major pilgrimage sites of worship. There are four pilgrimage sites in Uttarakhand i.e. Badrinath, Kedarnath, Yamunotri and Gangotri. It is known as Chhota Char Dham. 

2. 12 ( Dwadas) Jyotirlinga

There are 12 Jyotirling in India. These Jyotirlinga have special place. These Jyotirlingas are Mahakaleswar Jyotirlinga ( Ujjain, Madhya Praedsh), Kashi Jyotirlinga, Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga, Somnath Jyotirlinga ( Gujrat), mallikarjuna Jyotirlinga ( A. P.), Baidyanath Jyotirlinga ( Jharkhand), Bhishankar Jyotirlinga ( Maharastra), Rameshwar Jyotirlinga ( Tamilnadu), Nagesrwar Jyotirlinga ( Sauratsrat, Gujarat), Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga ( Maharastra), Ghrishneshwar Jyotirlinga ( Aurangabad, Maharastra)

3. Shakti Peeth

These shakti peeth are the sacred places of goddess Sati. These places have special place in Hindu pilgrimage. 

4. Hardwar, Uttar Pradesh

Hardwar is located in Uttarakhand. It is about 222 kilometers from New Delhi. Haridwar is well connected by road, rail and air with rest of the country. People come here to have darshan in temples, to see Ganga arti and to visit ashrams.  

5. Rishikesh, Uttar Pradesh

Rishikesh is known as spiritual capital of India. It is the link between plains and mountains. All pilgrims going to Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gaumukh, Yamunotri go via Rishikesh

6. Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh

Allahabad is located in Uttar Pradesh province of India. It is famous for confluence of three rivers i.e. Ganga, Yamuna and Sarawati. 

7. Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh

Varanasi is located in Uttar Pradesh province of India. Many Indians visit Varanasi for Kashi Vishvanath temple, Ganga Darshan and many other temples. Foreigners come to experience Ganga arti, see Ghats and feel the culture of Varanasi. 

8. Ajmer, Rajasthan

Ajmer is a famous destination in Rajasthan. People visit dargah of Sufi saint Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chishty.  

9. Saint Francis Church, Goa

Francis Xavier church is a famous destination in Goa. All tourists coming to Goa visit this place. 

10. Lotus temple, New Delhi

Lotus temple is located in New Delhi. It is a Bahai temple for worship. It consist 27 free standing marble clad petals. It looks like Lotus flower. 

11. Jakhu Mandir, Shimla

It is located in Shimla. Its main deity is Lord Hanuman. 

12. Akshar Dham, New Delhi

Akshar Dham temple is located in New Delhi. It is constructed by followers of Swami Narayana devotees. It has massive structure. Audio guide is also available here. Here, you will feel blissful. It is a good place to learn and see management. 

13. Bodh Gaya (Bihar)

It is located in Bihar state of India. Many tourists from Sri Lanka, Thailand, Japan, China visit Bodh Gaya. 

14. Sanchi (Madhya Pradesh)

Sanchi Stupas are very famous. It is located in Madhya Pradesh near Bhopal. 

15. Sirpur (Chhatisgarh)

Sirpur is located in Chhattisgarh state of India. It is famous for Buddha Viaharas. It was a port city.   Now, it is village located near Mahanadi. Many Buddhist Pilgrims visit here. There are many temples Laxman Temple, Gandhak Mahadev Temple are located here. 

16. Amarnath Dham (Jammu and Kashmere)

Amarnath dham is famous for Shivlinga. People from all over the world visit here. It is located in Jammu and Kashemere. 

17. Vasino Devi

It is located in Jammu near Katra.

18. Tirupati Balaji, Andhra Pradesh

It is in Andhra Pradesh. 

19. Salasar, Rajasthan

Salasar is famous for Hanuman temple. 

20. Golden Temple

Golden Temple is located in Amritsar. Pilgrims from all over the world visit here. 

21. Guru Data Bandi Chhod Gurudwara

Guru Data Bandi Chhod Gurudwara is located in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. It has historical importance. There are good facilities available here for pilgrims. 

22. Jagannath Puri

Jagannath Puri temple is located in Puri, Odisha. Thousands of pilgrims visit here every day. It has large community kitchen.

23. Brij, Mathura

Brij is the name of region associated with Lord Krishna. It is a holy region for followers of Lord Krishna. Thousands of pilgrims come here for parikrama of Goverdhan Parvat (Mountain). 

24. Pushkar Ji

Pushkar Ji is famous for Brihma temple. It is in Rajasthan. Nera Brihma temple there is Savitri temple. There is a Kund near Brihma temple. It is visited by many pilgrims and tourists from many countries.
